Mythri Jegathesan

Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology


Mythri Jegathesan, Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology, received her doctorate in Anthropology from Columbia University in 2013.  Her current project is an ethnographic study of minority politics, development, and labor and social movements among formerly disenfranchised Tamil tea plantation workers in postwar Sri Lanka.  Her current research interests include development, minority politics, transnational social movements, migrant labor, and gender practices among workers in Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia, and the Global South.  She has held research and writing fellowships and grants from the National Science Foundation, American Association of University Women, and Green Harbor Financial.
