Loay Badran, Visiting Assistant Professor of Arabic Studies, studied Arabic language and literature at Mu’ta University, received his M.A. from the University of Jordan, and completed his doctorate in the field of Arabic language and syntax at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan. From 2005 until 2009 he worked as an Arabic language instructor in elementary and secondary schools, and from 2009 he worked at the CIEE program at the University of Jordan where he taught Arabic to non-Arabic speakers. His research interests lie primarily in the fields of language pedagogy and second language acquisition, and he has participated in a number of conferences and workshops on those topics throughout the Arab world. He has extensive experience in teaching all levels of Modern Standard Arabic as well as the colloquial Jordanian dialect, including advanced courses on writing and researching in Arabic.
