Background

James Stern, Assistant Professor of Law, is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, where he was awarded the Roger and Madeleine Traynor writing prize and served as articles development editor for the Virginia Law Review.  Following graduation, Professor Stern clerked on both the 4th Circuit, for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III, and the United States Supreme Court, for Justice Anthony Kennedy.  His research interests include property law and private law theory, civil procedure, conflict of laws, and remedies.  During the 2013-2014 academic year he will be teaching Torts and Intellectual Property Survey.
