Michael Tang

Mr. Tang received his B.A. (economics) from the College of William and Mary in 1976 and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979.  He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, Illinois and Michigan.  Michael Tang is Chief Executive Officer, National Material L.P. (NMLP) and Vice-Chairman, Tang Industries (TII); TII and NMLP are holding companies which are involved in various businesses such as steel, aluminum, automotive, aerospace, pharmaceuticals and office furniture and wind energy. The company’s 30 operating facilities are located in the United States, Mexico and China.  Mr. Tang’s experience with TII and NMLP include operations, mergers and acquisitions and start-ups of numerous companies. Prior to joining TII, Mr. Tang practiced law in a private firm in Phoenix, Arizona and with the Navajo Tribe.  Mr. Tang currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago Medical Center, the Field Museum of Chicago, and is a member of the Advisory Board for RAND’s Center for Asia Pacific Policy (CAPP) as well as serving on the executive committee of the Chicago Community Trust.  He previously has served on the boards of other non-profit organizations such as the Endowment Association of the College of William and Mary, the Graduate School of Business of the College of William and Mary, and WBEZ, Chicago’s Public Radio Station.  Mr. Tang was appointed to the Board of Visitors in 2009.
