Ms. Pence earned her BBA in Accounting from the School of Business Administration of the College of William & Mary in 2000, with a minor in Economics. During her time at William & Mary she was active in a wide variety of clubs and organizations. She was an officer in a social sorority as well as an academic fraternity, participated in the Student Leadership Foundation, played club lacrosse and represented William & Mary in a national tax competition. Following graduation she joined Price Waterhouse Coopers where she performed both financial and information systems audits. In 2003 she joined Freddie Mac as an Audit Manager focusing on application based controls, until leaving the corporate world in 2006 to raise her growing family. In 2009 Ms. Pence became certified for Group Exercise Instruction through AFAA. After teaching at several gyms, she started Shape & Play, LLC, in 2010, a fitness and exercise business that caters to parents of young children. Ms. Pence has been a volunteer with Fairfax County's hotline for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault as well as Children's Support Groups at the women's shelter since 2005. In 2010 she was appointed to the Board for the Family and Children's Trust Fund (FACT) of Virginia. Currently she is the Treasurer and sits on the Executive Committee for FACT. Ms. Pence was appointed to the Board of Visitors in 2011.
