Suzann Matthews

Ms. Matthews received her B.A. (English) from the College of William and Mary in 1971.  Following service as personal assistant to United States Congressman Mike McCormack, staff assistant to the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means, and assistant in the director’s office of the U.S. Congress Office of Technology Assessment, Ms. Matthews was co-founder and Secretary-Treasurer of Quantec, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in providing statistical analyses in the fields of health/human services and commodities (1979-1983) and co-founder, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer of Peter F. Matthews, Inc., an international funds management company (1984-1993).  Ms. Matthews was a founding member of the Muscarelle Museum of Art Board of Directors and the William and Mary Council of Advisory Board Chairs, and is a past member of the William and Mary National Campaign Steering Committee, The Fund for William and Mary, and the Board of Directors of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.  She is also founding chair of The Phoenix Project and currently a member of the Board of Directors.  In 2008 she received the Alumni Medallion from the William and Mary Alumni Association.  Ms. Matthews was appointed to the Board of Visitors in 2002 and reappointed in 2006.  Currently she is Vice Chair of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, Vice Chair of the Committee on Student Affairs, and is a member of the Committee on Development and Alumni Affairs.  She is a former chair of the Committee on Student Affairs and from 2005 to 2009 served as Secretary of the Board and member of the Executive Committee.
