Ms. Gerdelman received her B.A. in Elementary Education from the College of William & Mary in 1976 and taught school for six years in Washington State. She previously worked at the White House as an Executive Assistant to the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and as Associate Director of the President's National Economic Council. In 2001, she worked as a volunteer on the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Ms. Gerdelman has long been active in support of her alma mater and in the community; she is the immediate past chair of the William & Mary Foundation, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation and currently serves as chair of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc., the private affiliate. In recognition of her outstanding professional accomplishments, leadership and dedication to the community, and commitment to her alma mater, Ms. Gerdelman was awarded the Alumni Medallion in 2011. Ms. Gerdelman was appointed to the Board of Visitors in 2013.
