John Gerdelman, Vice Rector

Mr. Gerdelman received his B.S. (chemistry) from the College of William and Mary in 1975. He is currently the executive chairman and one of the founders of Intelliden, a leading provider of software solutions that enable networks to operate more intelligently by automating network change management and enforcing business policy in network operations. He was previously Chief Executive Officer of USA.NET and AboveNet. He also served as the president of the network and information technology division of MCI Telecommunications Corporation. Mr. Gerdelman served seven years in the United States Navy as a carrier pilot. He currently serves on the Campaign for William and Mary Steering Committee and is a Trustee and past Chair of the Endowment Association. Mr. Gerdelman is a former member of the State Council for Higher Education and the Northern Virginia Technology Council, and is currently a member of the boards of Sycamore Networks, BROCADE Corporation, PROXIM and US Inspect. In 2001 he was presented with the Alumni Services Award by the Alumni Society and in 2005 he was awarded the Alumni Medallion. Mr. Gerdelman was appointed to the Board in 2003 and reappointed in 2007. Currently he serves as Vice Rector of the College, Chair of the Committee on Administration, Vice Chair of the Committee on Athletics, Vice Chair of the Executive Committee, and is a member of the Committee on Financial Affairs. He is a past chair of the Committee on Athletics. |
