Can Help
As William and
Mary Hillel embarks on its mission to build the strongest possible
future for Jewish Campus Life, there are many ways that you
can help as a member of our extended community. We have
set high goals for Hillel as we feel that our William and Mary
Jewish community deserves nothing short of excellence. Your
input, support, and efforts are invaluable. Yes, you
can make a significant difference in the quality of Jewish
life at William and Mary!
The strongest
means of helping our community is through your mentorships
and financial support. Hillel has an ambitious agenda
in which we have launched the William and Mary Lay Leadership
Board of parents, alumni, community members, faculty, and students
who all work towards common goals to enhance Jewish life at
the college. If you are interested in being an active
mentor as a Lay Leader in our community we welcome your enthusiasm
and support. Among many goals of the Lay Leadership Board,
our biggest goal is a large-scale endowment campaign to provide
the funding and resources to begin a long term plan to continually
enhance Jewish Life at the college. The endowment strategic
plan includes hiring a professional advisor to develop new
and innovative means of expanding the scope of our community. In
addition, the endowment will plant the seeds for building the
William and Mary Hillel Facility within the next 5 years. The
facility will be the center for Jewish community and campus
life, giving our students a literal and figurative Jewish home
at William and Mary. Your mentorships and financial support
will lay the foundation for such future successes.
Another way to
make a difference is by spreading William and Mary Hillel's
message about the vibrant Jewish community on our campus. By
talking about the strong Hillel and Jewish community at William
and Mary at your synagogue, Jewish Community Center, with perspective
students, or simply with friends is the best publicity that
our community can achieve. The more that you spread the
word about William and Mary Hillel's success, the larger our
community will become and a strong base for the future will
be planted at the same time. Acting as a Hillel ambassador
is an excellent way to help strengthen the William and Mary
Jewish community.
Hillel is currently
in the process of compiling a complete list of all Jewish alumni
and your help is essential. We are looking for names
of Jewish students that may have come to William and Mary in
the past fifty years to share with us their stories of Jewish
life as students. Contacting friends, neighbors, or fraternity
brothers on our behalf to find former William and Mary Jewish
students will help us develop more genuine relationships with
alumni.
As you can see
there are many different ways to make a difference in Hillel
and Jewish life at William and Mary. We hope that you
will take advantage of these opportunities to help a great
cause, helping William and Mary Hillel leave "Memories
lasting a Millennium!"
