Get Hosted!!

Want to find out more about Jewish life or just “life” in general on William and Mary’s campus? GET HOSTED!  Forget staying in a hotel room with your parents!  When visiting college campuses, the best way to get a real feel for the college or university is to spend the day/night with a current student on campus.  Not only will you get a more comprehensive tour than any guide will give you, but the experiences you have staying in a dorm, attending classes, and hanging out with other current students will give you invaluable information to weigh when deciding which institution to attend!

William and Mary’s Hillel is happy to assist any students who would like to be hosted with a Jewish student for a day, evening, or even a weekend!  We are more than delighted to work around Open House schedules or any other scheduled visit that you have planned in the fall or spring.  Contact us by emailing hillel@wm.edu to arrange to be hosted by a Jewish student.  We also encourage you to visit the William and Mary homepage at http://www.wm.edu to find out more about the college in general.  We look forward to meeting you!

You are also welcome to contact one of our Board Members if you'd prefer. Their contact information can be found here.

More Visiting Details!!!

Who to Contact
Any time of year, email hillel@wm.edu and we’ll make all the necessary arrangements for you to come visit the College of William and Mary. We’re always excited to meet prospective members of our Jewish community!

When to Visit
Every year, William and Mary Hillel commits at least one weekend to hosting prospective students. Email us at Hillel@wm.edu for detailed information and dates. If you’re coming at a different time, be sure to catch one of our festive Shabbat dinners. Whether that week’s dinner features a guest speaker, student-run services, or just good food and good conversation, they tend to attract much of our Jewish community, and provide a good sampling of what Jewish life at the college is like.

Where to Stay
William and Mary Hillel guarantees it will provide housing for you with a member of the Jewish student body here at the college, and we hope you’ll take us up on the offer. In case you should elect not to, though, or in case your parents should accompany you to Williamsburg, here are some convenient local hoteliers*:

What to expect
Aside from the mandatory campus tour, make sure to visit classes and meet with professors in departments which interest you. Remember, college is fun – but academics take up much of your time, and the academic experience varies with the school. Make sure what William and Mary offers is what you’re looking for. Also, talk to the students you meet – was this their first choice? Would it be today?

Bring Your Friends
It’s always easier trying new things in groups, so round up a bunch of students from your neighborhood, your temple, or your local federation and pay us a group visit – whether on an official Prospectives’ Weekend or not. We’ll work with you to plan events catered to your group’s interests, and welcome prospective parties of any size – the more the merrier!
