Welcome
and thank you for visiting our website!! For
further information about W&M Balfour Hillel, we invite
you to browse the website, which has been redesigned to
meet
the needs of our current students, prospective students,
parents, alumni, and community members such as yourself.
In addition, we
are extremely excited to tell you about the vibrant Jewish
campus life at William and Mary. As a result of our recent growth,
W&M
Balfour Hillel is quickly gaining a national reputation as the
pioneer for enhancing Jewish campus life at small, emerging campuses.
Our active community has increased two-fold in the recent
years and is constantly growing. Our weekly programs usually
attract
15 to 30 students, with special and holiday events bringing in
between 30 and 75 Jewish students. We are proud to offer two
to three programs each week to the Jewish community, including
well-attended weekly Shabbat meal, holiday events, Jewish
socials, lectures/discussions, and much more. We believe that
the continuous strides that Hillel makes to enhance Jewish life,
in coordination with the College administration, provide an attractive
environment for prospective Jewish students, with an established
strong foundation for future growth of our Jewish community.
We are proud of
our strong Lay Leadership Board that is helping to create
the infrastructure to enhance Jewish campus life at W&M for many
generations to come. The board works to ensure growth of the
three most important interlocking spheres of Jewish life at William
and Mary:Hillel and the campus experience, Hillel and the greater
community, and Hillel and enhancing relations with alumni and
prospective students. Ultimately, the strong infrastructure we
have in place will enable Balfour Hillel to embark on a major
fundraising campaign over the next several years aimed at maintaining
a full time Hillel Professional Advisor and also to plant the
seed funding for a Balfour Hillel facility within the near future.
We will continue to solicit and depend on your ideas and enthusiasm
as we continue developing William and Mary Balfour Hillel as
a forefront leader of Jewish campus life in the nation.
